one in particular stands out to me.
a poster referred to the governments turning on religion as "an old jw myth".
i thought it was a downright blasphemous thing to say!
I was shocked and relieved to find that others had found the same things out on their own through deep research, and of course the help of the internet. I wasn't crazy afterall!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I learned so much by different ones who had posted what they had found and where to find it. Scans and copies from pulications I would have never been able to get my hands on were posted here by many many loving caring people who quickly became endeared to me in my exit out of the organization. I wanted proof of everything I was finding so that I wasn't just taking someones word for it. I was shocked to find everything I needed, and if I couldn't find something, there was and still is, always someone kind enough to help find it for me. THANKS JWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
i looked over the aug. 1 public watchtower and noticed the same changes i observed previously.. plainly put, it appears that they have simply run out of things to say and so are just filling up printing space!.
they devote 4 full pages to a bible reading schedule that could have been easily condensed into a couple sentences.
they have the same large graphics and typeset that eats up printing area.
Dear Metatron,
Thanks for your observation. it made me think of something my mother just told me yesterday. Thru a friend of a friend that is still in, she just recently went back east to Bethal for a tour and said it was like a ghost town. Hardly anyone there!!!
Thought that was really weird..and something was mentioned about taking everything to Canada. Which was even weirder..the speculation is the tax situation. They have not been paying taxes on all their labored people because they have worked for free. Then when it comes time for retirement there is no Social Security for them to collect.
Couldn't help but wonder if they were going to take off to Canada because of perhaps all the pediphile cases against them in the US. I don't know how strict the laws are there, but maybe it would be harder to prosecute them if they are in a different country. Not sure, and only speculating...but one thing IS for sure....things are definatly changing, and it is STRANGE!!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
dear friends,.
well, after 4 years of being out of the borg, i decided to take the plunge and i went to "church" with my sister.
it was a wonderful experience, and i will definately be returning.
Oh, oh, oh.......
I wanted to tell you one other thing....in the lobby of the church, there was a booth that you could buy a backpack. You take it home and fill it with school supplies and bring it back and drop it off. The church then, after collecting them all, puts them in the gym, and anyone from the community who are having a difficult time can come in, member or NOT, and get one or how ever many they need for their children for school. (And you don't have to PROVE you are having financial difficulty either.)
What a wonderful, charitable act!!!!!!!! Especially right now, when many are suffering financial hardships. As I understand it, they do this every year, in addition to many other charitable deeds. I as a witness always felt guilty that we never were encourage to give to the community anything other than service time. Infact it was discouraged. Reminds me of the scripture where Jesus denies those who ignored those who needed lifes basics, such as food and clothing, but only preached. (Remind you of anyone?????)
It feels so good to now give cans of food when the food drive comes by, or donate a dollar or more to support drives for different diseases such as breast cancer, diabetes reseacrch etc... I will definately be buying and donating a backpack full of school supplies!!
Sorry I forgot this in my original post. I was really tired when I posted it, as i am sure you could tell with my spelling.....LOL.
Thanks for reading..and as always your comments.

Dear friends,
Well, after 4 years of being out of the Borg, I decided to take the plunge and I went to "church" with my sister. It was a wonderful experience, and I will definately be returning. Here was my experience:
The church is a huge facility that has 3 services at different times on their days of worship with about 1,200 people at each service. I was nervous, but excited at the same time to see what it would really be like. Since I was raised in the Borg, I grew up like most JWs, never having set foot in a church for a wedding or even a funeral.
About 3 years ago however, I went to another church for a funeral for a friend I worked with. It was like going into a assembly hall, and seemed strangely familiar because of it. I was amazed at how I was not uneasy at all. and it really showed me how much I had been scared into believing it would be a very scarey place.
So when I went for Sunday worship, I had a feeling I would be pleasantly suprised again...and I was!!! There was a band that played music and sang christian songs with 2 big screens with the words to the songs if you want to sing along. Then there was a water baptism...just like the many assembly halls I have been to with a pool in the front of the auditorium so all could see, they were filming it so that you could get a close up on the big screen of the baptismal candidates faces. It was quite touching, 9 got baptized.
Then, they had communion, a type of "mini memorial"...Jesus never said only once a year, just "keep doing this.....", then, the speaker came up and told the story of David, Saul, Jonothan and Mephibosheth. They had preprinted for everyone who wanted one the scriptures that were cited, so you could look them up later, which I though was really nice....no note taking....and then he gave example of how we could apply the story to our own lives.
I thought it was excellent, and was very encouraging. I actually learned quite a bit!! Some people leave the Borg and never have a spiritual need again. I am one of those who enjoy being encouraged by the Bible and how I can become a better person. However, I must say I will NEVER become a "member" of any other church, being told how or what to believe. I liked the fact that it was so large, no one knew that I was new, so as to not become someones "project" so to speak.
I was very encouraged and had a tear in my eye more that once. Except for the fact that the audiance didn't have all suits and dresses on, it was like being at a circuit assembly. I was amazed at how many young people were there without their parents. They came in all different colors, and from obviously different backgrounds. It was an amazing testimony to the fact that God accepts all who love him and his son and who have faith no matter what religion they come from, or what they are wearing. I can't imagine Jesus getting his "special" meeting robe on in order to minister to the people.
I never thought I would ever step foot in a church. let alone go there for fellowship and encouragement, but it was a refreshing change and it filled a void I have had for a long time. It also confirmed to me something I already know and believe, and that is the JWs are NOT the only ones approved by God. It is a matter rather of the heart, faith and love.
As a side perk, I saw several people I know there, that was a bonus! There was much fellowship afterwards in the huge lobby, just like you would see at the assembly halls. Lots of laughter and smiles. It was strange. People knew one another and they disn't all run off, but they stayed and visited. If I were to imagine them all in suits and ties, I would have thought they were all JWS!!
Anyhow...I just thought I would share this with you, in case there was anyone out there who have been contemplating going to "church".
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
some of you have been like family to me.
yet, it's time that i must say good-bye.
my husband and i have chosen to study the scriptures together on two conditions:.
Dear Cognac,
(((HUGS))) We wish you well, and will miss your comments.

hi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.
Crazy isn't it!!
When I told my mother in law about this she was flabbergasted, she didn't believe me until I told her about this article and told her to look it up for herself. Before she looked it up she said there was no way she would ever believe Jesus wasn't her personal Mediator, not matter what anyone told her...she even told me, " the Bible says he is my Mediator"..I said, " I know, but that is not the Watchtower teaching."
So sure enough she looked it up, and to my shock she said "Well, it does indeed say that, but as long as were in association with the 144,000 what does it really matter??"
I was floored! I said, "Well it may not matter to you, but it DEFINATELY matters to me that what is being taught is not from God's word! And that matters a whole LOT to me!!
Trying to them is like talking to a brick wall!! They are SO BRAINWASHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty

QuestionsfromReaders
•IsJesusthe"mediator"onlyforanointedChristians? The term "mediator" occurs just six times in the Christian Greek Scriptures and Scripturally is always used regarding a formal covenant.
Moses was the "mediator" of the Law covenant made between God and the nation of Israel. (Gal. 3:19, 20) Christ, though, is the "mediator of a new covenant" between Jehovah and spiritual Israel, the "Israel of God" that will serve as kings and priests in heaven with Jesus. (Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24; Gal. 6:16) At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the "one mediator between God and men." (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word "mediator" in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is "mediator." So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians.
The new covenant will terminate with the glorification of the remnant who are today in that covenant mediated by Christ. The "great crowd" of "other sheep" that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the "little flock" of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant. During the millennium Jesus Christ will be their king, high priest and judge. I don't know about you guys but I was blown away when I learned they taught this. As a very active JW and raised in the Borg, I had always believed that Jesus was my personal Mediator. How many of you thought the same thing??
Of course they like to play on words and say, "Ah..but though Jesus is not your Mediator he is your High Priest."
Was not the High Priest the "Mediator" between God and his people until Jesus arrived becoming the "Grand High Priest", our Mediator??
I wonder how many JWs would be shocked to learn this is an official teaching of the Borgs??
I will post the article in a minute when I pull it up.

Lady Liberty
